Hello Crafty friends,
This is Sylvie @kaliscards with a couple projects for combining a few products from the ‘Spring in Kyoto’ release with Spellbinders. Once again, I played with origami paper from my stash to created a set of cards coordinating the fans and kimonos.
All products are available on the alexsyberiadesigns.com (US) and alexsyberiadesigns.co.uk (rest of the world) stores.
To create these cards, I started with the fans, using the Fan & bow die set. The die set is comprised of a base and stand-alone panels to layer onto the base. I die cut the base from plain cardstock and then the panels from the origami paper, and then again from white cardstock to layer underneath the origami paper which is very thin.
I die cut the sticks from black cardstock and the bows from plain cardstock matching the colors of the origami sheets.
I assembled the fans with liquid adhesive, first adhering the sticks to the base, from left to right. Then, I glued the origami panels onto the white panels, and then onto the base, from left to right, overlapping the panels on the previous one, following lines indicated on the base. Finally, I glued the bows, layering the 4-loop bow, then its coordinating string on top, the other bow string and finally the 3-loop bow.
I then die cut the kokeshi dolls from colored cardstock matching colors of the fans. The die set comprises different flowers, so I picked the ones that resembled the origami paper the most. For the hair, I used glossy cardstock.
I assembled the kokeshi dolls with liquid adhesive. The dolls are super easy to assemble, as layers are indicated with thin lines, so you know exactly where to glue the next piece:
For the background, I die cut the Floral splendor cover die from white cardstock. To add a little interest and contrasting color, I decided to layer another background underneath and used the Floral fans embossing folder with Spellbinders Chiffon cardstock which I ran through my die cutting machine. I then trimmed the embossed panels to 4″ by 5.5″.
I glued the floral cover onto the embossed panel and then onto the cardbases. I adhered the fans on the top right corner and the kokeshi dolls on the left.
For the sentiment, I stamped the Classic sentiments using the Spellbinders BetterPress system, with the BetterPress black ink onto A2 Cotton Card Panels Porcelain White 320gsm. I used the coordinating die set and then adhered the sentiment in the bottom right corner with liquid adhesive.
Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you next week.
Have a lovely crafty week!
