Hello friends! This is Sandhya and today I am sharing two cards featuring brand new digis from the Alex Syberia Design March Release. This release is full of so many gorgeous floral images and more. Make sure you check them out in Alex’s Etsy store.
Card 1 | Fabulous Floral Slimline Card Panel
For my first card, I started out by adjusting the size of the image on the Procreate app on my iPad. Then I printed it on Fabriano Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper (90lb). This is my favorite watercolor paper for working with digital images as it can hold a decent amount of water and goes through my HP laser printer without getting jammed. Next, I foiled the image using WOW! Fab Foil in white by passing it through a laminator.
I used Karin Markers to watercolor the florals. For this, I used a wet-on-wet technique, where I paint each petal with clean water and drop come concentrated pigment in the base of each petal. I use a damp clean brush to pull out the paint to a fade towards the outer edges. Next, I dropped puddles of water adjacent to the floral outlines and gently touched the puddles with a teal Karin marker. The pigment made its way around the puddles and I let it create its own magic for my background.
For the sentiment, I used the SSS Mini Interactive Envelope Die and stamped a sentiment on the tiny card that goes inside the envelope. I used an Exacto knife to carefully cut along the outline of one of the flowers so I can tuck the mini envelope in there. Next, I used a wonky stitched slimline die to create a teal mat for my panel. I trimmed the actual colored panel and adhered it to the mat.
Finally, I attached the matted panel to a white slimline card base (3.5″ X 8.5″) and added some white iridescent sequins to complete my card. The pictures don’t do justice to the shiny foiling and so I have a little video clip to show you how pretty it looks in real life!
Card 2 | Springtime A2 Card Panel
Alrighty, so on to my second card. This is actually the card I made for the Instagram Hop on release day. I start of the same way for this card too. I printed on watercolor paper with a laser printer, but this time I foiled it using green DecoFoil.
For this card, I used regular student-grade watercolors, but chose vibrant spring colors. I did very simple and easy watercoloring and added a little more pigment in the nooks and crannies to give my coloring some depth.
I made a wax seal that says ‘with love’ and added some gold accents to the seal. I placed a die-cut vellum circle below the seal and attached it using foam squares. This completes my second card for today and here’s a video snippet showing off the foiled gorgeousness.
I hope you enjoyed my cards for today. Thank you for stopping by.
Crafty hugs,
Sandhya
