Dive into a mermazing underwater adventure filled with the cutest little mermaids around—kitty mermaids! These whimsical feline friends are swimming and playing beneath the sea while brilliant sun rays stream down through the water from above. Surrounded by all the magic of the ocean, these sweet mer-kitties make this card feel like a tiny underwater world just waiting to be explored. Mermaid Kitties Stamp Set and / or BUNDLE with the coordinating dies
My card measures 5″ X 7″ and the card base is made from white Neenah 80lb white cardstock. Here are the details…
To make this 5″ X 7″ greeting card, I started by stamping and coloring all the mermaid kitties, seaweed, and shells. I colored them in bright colors. I used Copic Markers to color the characters. I die cut them using the bundle dies. Now I need a background for these mermazing mermaids.
For the background, I stenciled the background, leaving the very bottom of a 4.25″ X 5.5″ piece of white cardstock piece clean for the bottom sea floor. I used the Glistening Water Stencil to create the water effect for the “under the sea” scene. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to blend the design onto the background. I kept it light with white showing through in larger spaces in the middle. Next, I stenciled the sunrays over the top using Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink. I turned the stencil so that the rays fan out below. For the third layer, I used a lighter green marker, YG13, to add tall seaweed on the sides, creating a frame for the mermaids.
I colored in the sandy bottom floor for the sea with earthy brown Copic Markers. I added dots in white and black for little stones/rocks. Next, I added the stamped seaweed, shells, clams and pearls to the sea floor. Above the sand, I added the kitties to the scene using a foam tab to make each one stand out. I hand drew in more seaweed for the scene. I attached the scene to the card base and stamped the sentiment from the same mermaid set at the bottom center area. This card is ready for a mermazing person!
