Birthdays are the perfect time to add a little extra sweetness to your cardmaking. For this 5″ X 7″ birthday card, I added four adorable mini cupcakes nestled inside a postage-style die cut. Each cupcake can be customized with favorite color combinations, sprinkles, frosting details, and embellishments, making this design as unique as the person receiving it. The postage die cut adds a charming, modern twist while neatly framing each delicious little treat for a clean and eye-catching layout.
I’m using the following Alex Syberia Designs products for this 5″ X 7″ card:
The card base and card front panel is made from white Neenah Solar White cardstock.
To make this A7 card, I die cut the Postage Stamps Cover die from white cardstock. I used the Postage Stamps Stencil to color the backgrounds of the four postage stamps. I used Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Mustard Seed and Kitsch Flamingo. Once the color was applied, I used the Postage Stamps Stencil with the Tiny Florals Stencil Set to create the polka dots on each stamp. I set it aside to dry.
I stamped and hand cut four cupcakes from the Love Tickets Stamp set. I colored each one using Copic Markers that matched the colors of the background. I attached the cupcakes using foam tabs. I used the Charming Medallions Die Set to die cut five daisies and four stems for the daisies. I colored the stems using YG17 and YG03 Copic Markers and the daisy centers in Y19 and Y08. I attached a daisy to each cupcake by tucking it behind the frosting. I also added a daisy to the center and colored it pink using RV02 and RV17. Once the daisies were in place, I added additional markings to the backgrounds for extra detail and whimsy using coordinating Copic colors.
For the background of the card front, I used the polka dot pattern from the Tiny Florals Stencil Set and Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Kitsch Flamingo and Mustard Seed, allowing the colors to blend to make additional colors. I attached the cupcake postage stamps die cut to the background. I added a happy birthday message inside the greeting to finish the card.
