Hello to my crafty friends! How about a “friend card” today? It’s bright, happy, quick and easy to make and designed for a friend! I’m using the following Alex Syberia Designs products:
Minimalist Flowers Stencil Set
Abstract Background stamp and coordinating die set
Delicate Frame and Friend die set
My card measures 5″ X 7″ in size. The 5″ X 7″ card front panel and the A7-sized card base are made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock.
To make this card, I used the Minimalist Flowers Stencil Set, blender brushes, and Distress Oxide Inks to stencil the flowers on the white cardstock. I used three orange-colored ink colors to create the varied petal look. This bouquet could be stenciled in any color, including your bestie’s favorite colors! After stenciling the design, I splattered a little watercolor ink over the card front using Kuretake Gansai Tambi ink and a fan-shaped brush. I splattered a few spots on the petals, too.
If you look closely, I shadowed the petals with a light gray color using a Copic Sketch Marker in C3. I colored around all the edges. This helps “pop” the bouquet off the white background. It is subtle, but makes a difference the the overall look. I like to do this when I’m doing one-layer cards because it looks more like a layered card.
I stamped the “thankful for your friendship” sentiment from the Abstract Background stamp set directly over the bottom flower. Above the sentiment, I added the die cut “Friend” made from the dies in the Delicate Frame and Friend die set. I used a red shadow with a white top layer. The “friend” word was attached using foam tabs to make it stand out from the background. Lastly, I added a few orange pearl gem stickers around the bouquet to complete the card.
