Spring in Kyoto Collection

Hello everyone and welcome to the Alex Syberia Designs blog, this is Nicky with you  today and I’m sharing a card for the absolutely stunning new collection from Spellbinders called ‘Spring In Kyoto’ which was designed by Alex Syberia Designs and available in both shops.  The release was inspired by the timeless elegance of Asian aesthetics and brings together simplicity, grace and so much charm.  THIS WEEKEND ONLY you can use the word SPRING to receive a 10% discount only at alexsyberiadesigns.com and alexsyberiadesigns. co.uk.

This collection is absolutely gorgeous and something truly different to get creative with and I happy to say that you can explore more creativity from the Design Team working with this release as we’re having an Instagram Hop and Giveaway TODAY!

Here’s a handy list of product links to the items I have used from the release to create this card today.

Floral Fans 3D Embossing Folder

Kokeshi Dolls Press Plate & Die Set

Blossoms & Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set

Good Day Quilted Rectangles Die Set

To create this card I first took a panel of pastel minty blue/green coloured cardstock.  I misted it lightly with water and then placed in the Floral Fans 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my Big Shot.  I then took my white gel pen and added white to all of the flowers contained within the design.  This beautifully highlights these features and brings added interest. I glued this panel to my card base.

Using the Good Day Quilted Rectangles Die by Alex Syberia Designs, I created the white frame which I applied to the background with foam tape.
I then used the Blossoms & Sentiments Press Plate & Die set to create the blooms, however I actually hot foiled in mint using the Press Plate and then I coloured the flowers with G00, G000 and BG000 Copic markers and I adhered with foam tape.
Whilst I was hot foiling the blooms I also hot foiled the thank you sentiment from the same set, I then die cut and applied.
Last, but in no way least, I used the Kokeshi Dolls Press Plate & Die Set and I hot foiled the beautiful Kokeshi Doll in a pale gold.  Then I coloured the image in Copic markers:-
Hair – T6, T5, T4, T3
Skin – E01, E00, E000
Blush – RV02, RV10, RV000
Fan – RV02, RV10
Kimono – BG32, G00, G000, RV06, RV02, C1, C0
I die cut using the coordinating die from the set and backed the doll with thick dimensional foam tape so that she really popped out against the background.  I highlighted her checks and with that this thank you card was complete.
Don’t forget to join the Instagram Hop today, thanks for stopping by!
Nicky
