Hey crafty friends! Lien here, back with another video and loads of tips and tricks for using layering stencils.
For today’s card I used the stunning Spring Garden layering stencils and stamp. There is also a coordinating die available! I worked on a larger piece of cardstock and put it in my Misti, this way I can put each layer of the stencil set in the corner of my Misti as well and they’ll all line up like magic. I also used the Ink Stand Mini to hold my ink cubes in place and make blending a little easier.
I applied my inks with my blending brushes and used multiple shades of ink for each stencil layer to add lots of depth and create the look of dimension. For the leaves I went from a very light minty green to a deep olive all in the first stencil layer. I repeated that in the second layer but left out my lightest shade and added an even darker green for my shadows. I did the same thing for the flowers.
Once I was done stenciling, I lined up the stamp with the stenciled image and used the same colors of ink to stamp the line art onto the stenciled panel. With ink cubes it’s very easy to partially ink up the stamp, but you could use an ink dauber instead. I trimmed the panel down with a nesting die and added a stamped sentiment from the Spring Garden stamp set. I masked that off to add some black splatter.
The final part of this card is the Large Thanks die, I cut it twice from white cardstock and once from gold glitter cardstock and stacked them up with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. I used a bright green matting layer to pull this spring card together and that’s it!
