Sparkle and Dance Die Cut Inlay

Hi crafty friends! Lien here with another colorful card. Don’t forget to watch the video below if you want to see the full process.

I created this card for Creative Stamping Magazine and they provided me with the color inspiration! Bright pink, orange, yellow and some gorgeous blues. I knew I wanted to incorporate the warm tones in the critters from the amazing Sparkle and Dance stamp set, so I added the blues in my background.

I painted some very simple swooshes on a panel of watercolor cardstock, starting out with the lightest shade and once that was dry, overlapping it with the darkest one. I then die cut this panel with the Fancy Cover Die. To add a little more sparkle to this dance, I die cut this again from silver glitter cardstock and replaced all the white diamonds from the cover die with silver ones.

I stamped the critters from Sparkle and Dance with Memento Tuxedo Black and left the stamps in my Misti while I colored the images with my Ohuhu Markers. Once that was done, I put the images back in my stamping tool and stamped them again, this time with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added Clear Gloss embossing powder for a nice shiny finish. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

To put this card together, I glued the background onto a white notecard, propped up the images on foam tape and added two sentiments from that same Sparkle and Dance stamp set, white embossed on black cardstock. As a finishing touch I added a couple of gems.
