Painting with Pigment Powders featuring ALEX SYBERIA DESIGN’S PANSIES

Hello everyone! Bonnie here from BONNIECAROLLEE MAKES CARDS. I am excited to be back up on Alex Syberia Design’s blog with a gorgeous image from the new release, PANSIES!

For today’s card, I will be painting with bold and vibrant pigment powders. Nuvo Shimmer Powders have a beautiful sparkly finish that is slightly understated until the light catches it … then WOW!

I printed the image on Canson XL water colour paper. The flowers were painted with Blue Blitz, Cherry Bomb, Violet Brocade and Solar Flare. A combination of Green Parade and Falling Leaves were used on the leaves. Please view the video for the painting process. The centres of the pink flowers were accented with watered down black gouache. The gouache was used to paint the background and watered down further to spatter the panel.

The panel was mounted on black foam mounted on black cardstock the same height as the panel but slightly wider for a narrow ‘side reveal‘. The card base was the same height, 8 1/4 inches, and again slightly wider than the black card stock at 3 1/4 inches. The sentiment, Simon Says Stamp’s Script Hello, was cut from both black card stock and black foam and stacked. The panel was embellished with sequins topped with Nuvo Crystal Drops Ebony Black.
