Merry Christmice Holiday Gift Tags

I absolutely love the Alex Syberia Designs Postage Stamps Cover die and wanted to make cute little scenes with the holiday Merry Christmice elves. I thought they would be so cute on gift tags for the holidays. I’m using the following Alex Syberia Designs products:

Signature Tags Dies

Falling Snow Stencil

Postage Stamps Cover die

Postage Stamps stencil set

Merry Christmice stamps and coordinating dies

Joy die set

Pretty Bows dies set

Christmas Sentiments stamps and dies

I’m using 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the tag bases. Everything is stamped using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I use Simon Says Stamp Dot Runner Tape Adhesive to attach the elements together.  My white Gelly Roll Pen is my go-to for adding any white highlights. Here’s the details for each tag.

Each tag uses the larger size of the two different tag styles in the Signature Tags Dies.  I used Candied Apple and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Inks with the Falling Snow Stencil to apply the dotted patterns on the tag backgrounds.

Next, I die cut the cute postage stamps using the Postage Stamps Cover die.  To apply a background color on the postage stamps, I used the Postage Stamps Stencil. On this tag, I applied Tumbled Glass for the background color on the postage stamp.

I stamped, die cut and colored the mice and elements from the Merry Christmice stamps and dies. The mice were done in cool shades of grey with a light pink blush for the ears and cheeks. Specifically, I used Copic Sketch markers in C5, C3, C1, and R00 for the mice. I used Twisted Citron for the stamp’s background color.

For the clothing and accessories, I used the following Copic Sketch Markers: YR00, YR17, YR67, R14, R27, R89, BG49, BG15, BG000, E57, and E55. In some cases, I added a little shirt to the mice if they did not already have one.

On all of the tags, I attached the postage stamps to the tag bases using foam tabs to make them stand out from the background. Some of the characters were also attached using foam tabs. With gift tags, we don’t have to mail them so they can be dimensional without any worry! I hand drew the wood floor on this postage stamp to “ground” the mice under the mistletoe. I also hand drew a dotted background for the wall (kind of like wallpaper!)

I added the smaller bow from the Pretty Bows dies set to the mistletoe on this tag. The larger sized bow in the set was used on the Peace and Joy tag  right above.

I added added the “joy” word die cut to the front of this tag and on the first tag above. I love how it really stands out and adds a whimsical feel to the tags!

Lastly, all of the tags feature a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments stamps and dies. In all cases, I stamped the sentiment right on the tag using a black ink. This set also has coordinating dies so that the sentiments could be stamped and attached to the tag as an alternative option.

I used a thin, silver cording for the tag strings and stamped a to/from on the backs of all four tags to complete them. I think these turned out so cute. I hope you’ll give them a try, too!
