Masculine Encouragement Card | Underwater World Digi Stamp

Hello everyone! Bonnie here! I have a water colour featuring Alex Syberia Design’s new release, Underwater World. I think this is the perfect digital stamp set for creating cards for the men and boys in our lives.

The image was printed on Canson’s XL water colour paper. I used this panel as the background. A third fish was cropped, flipped and enlarged to serve as the focal point for the card. Working with blues and greens from Mijello Mission Gold Water Colours, I created a wash. The background was painted liberally with water and colour dropped in, moved a little bit with my brush but mostly left to do it own thing. As the panel goes through the process of drying, the colour moves on its own.
Tip … When creating a wash, paint both sides of the panel with water. The paper will lie flat and there will be minimal warping.

The background fish and water scene images were painted simply. When everything was dry, I used grey green to create shadow areas on the underside of the fish. The large fish was painted with blues and grey on the top and grey with a touch of purple on the other areas. It was mounted on foam and attached to the card.
The panel was spattered with blue and black paint and white Gouache. I used my smallest paintbrush to tap off the paint to create small speckles.

The water colour panel and Peacock Teal card stock were die cut with Simon Says Stamp’s Slimline Scallop frame. This die produces both a frame and a rectangular panel. The secondary sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio’s You Are Amazing was stamped with Distress Oxide ink, Faded Jeans, and clear embossed. The panel was mounted on white sheet foam and left to dry under some weight. The scalloped frame was centred on a card base of Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb card stock measuring 3 3/4″ by 8 3/4″. The foam back panel was attached.

To finish up this card, I used a touch of black Nuvo Drops on the eye of the large fish to help it stand out. Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard was painted over the bluish area of the large fish’s body. I smoothed it out with a wet paint brush. The panel was embellished with many bubbles, big and small, made with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew. Simon Says Stamp’s Hello wafer die was cut from Peacock Teal card stock four times and stacked. Like the fish, it was painted with White Blizzard Glitter drops.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Bonnie
