Florals for a Lovely Day

It’s time to think spring flowers and I am all for it! My card features the new Clematis die set by Alex Syberia Designs. It’s an intricately designed floral that is so beautiful in any color. While clematis are most known for their deep purple color, I chose pinks for this card. The sentiment is from the Lovely Day stamp & die bundle.

To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I started with a white card base made from Neenah 80lb cardstock. I splattered a little black watercolor ink over the card front to make it feel more organic. I set it aside to dry. Once dry, I added a border design using the frame design from the Bow Ho Ho Frame die set.

Next, I die cut the florals and leaves. I used a green grass color for the leaves and a light and medium pink for the florals. I added color to the petals using Copic Sketch Markers in even deeper pinks/reds (R21, R22, R14) for the shadowing.  I used a very dark red cardstock for the centers. I added R89 to the centers to deepen them more.

I attached all the petals/blossoms to the greenery die cut piece.  Once everything was glued in place, I attached the entire piece to the white card base.

To finish the card, I added the sentiment using the Lovely Day stamp & die bundle. I placed it over the florals two-thirds down on the the front. I also added some dew drops to the floral petals using Magic Transparent in clear.
