Earthy Hues For This “Best” Card

Hello friends. I’m thinking ahead to the autumn months and all the fall colors ahead of us. This card shares the golden hues and earthy blues for a fall-flavored greeting. I’m using the following Alex Syberia Designs products:

Abstract Background Press Plate

Abstract Background Stencil Collection

Spring Clover Die Set

Essential Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set

This 5″ X 7″ card uses Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base.

This card features the beautiful Abstract Background Press Plate. I used Lisa Horton Metallic silver ink for the press plate design then stenciled in the color. I used Distress Oxide Inks with the Abstract Background Stencil set. For the blues, I used Unchartered Mariner and Mermaid Lagoon, allowing the inks to lighten in the middle of each section. This provides a highlight to the ribbon of color, making it appear rippled / protruding in the middle. For the golds, I used Wild Honey and Scattered Straw using the same blending technique. I use blending brushes to blend the colors. I set the background aside to dry.

I used black ink and the Essential Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set to create the sentiment.

For the clovers, I used some of the same background colors, but also added Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide Ink to the golden flowers. I backed the flowers with a Honey Gold cardstock. The blue clovers got a earthy teal blue colored cardstock that works well with the Mermaid Lagoon color. I used my white Gelly Roll Pen to add white highlights to the petals. The clover stems were done in brown cardstock and inks.

To assemble the card, I splattered brown ink over the front of the white 5″ X 7″ card base, attached the abstract design and then layered on the clovers. I popped some of the clover flowers up using foam tabs for more dimension. I attached the sentiment in the lower right corner. A few teal blue pearl gem stickers were added to accent the flowers for a finished look. This 5″ X 7″ card is ready to send!
