Digital Cut File | Layering Flower Mandala

Digital cut files are so fun to use; the main reason being it can be resized to your need. Unlike the metal dies, you can not only change sizes but also flip the image or stretch it or squish it.

Hello Everyone!

This is Jyoti here from cardsncraftsnyc.com sharing my fun cards I created using Alex’s latest release for July 2021, The Flower Mandala. I was so excited when Alex shared her designs among the designers and this month we had not just Alex’s beautifully illustrated digital stamps but also some wonderful layering dies.

These two cards are same but still different. Wanna know how?

When it comes to layering die-cuts we always think of cutting them with color card stocks, right? That is the most easiest and common way.  It would definitely be easier if you were using metal dies and manual die cutting machines. But when it comes to digital cut files, and using electronic die cutting machine, it is a lot easier to cut all the layers with just white and color them any color you want. I used Silhouette Cameo today.

The one on the left is lighter and the one on the right is a little darker even though I picked the same color combinations.

For the one on the left I used Distressed Oxide inks to color the different layers.

Inks I’ve used: Wild Honey, Tumbled Glass and Hickory Smoke.

For the one on the right I used Copic colors: Y38, B02 and C07

I used a white background but I didn’t wanna just go with plain white. So, I  embossed my white background panel using Simon Says Stamp 3 D embossing folder called Lumen.

For the topmost layer of this mandala I used a gold foil card-stock to cut these thin intricate design.  Over the years I’ve figured out that these thin foiled card-stock I bought from Michael’s works the best. You can see how thin these designs are.

I popped up the mandala on the embossed panel using foam tapes at the back whereas I adhered the layers using liquid glue.

The sentiments are from Taylored Expressions.  I used some fun birthday sentiments for these fun cards.

Hope this inspires you to use these fun digital cut files to create fabulous projects.

Hugs,

Jyoti
