Copic Recipe for Red Roses featuring Alex Syberia Design’s Roses Frame

Hello everyone!

Bonnie here from BONNIECAROLLEE Makes Cards ! Alex Syberia Design’s February release is gorgeous! Today’s post features one of the new designs, ROSES FRAME, and focuses on colouring classic red roses with Copic markers. I have experimented with several combinations to create red roses … always aiming to achieve depth but also one where the tones blend easily. I think I have found the recipe!

The image was printed on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb card stock and trimmed to 5 1/4” by 4”. The markers used to colour were:
Roses – R89, 39 or 37, 35, 32
Leaves – BG99, G99, 94, 82
Background – 100 Black
I colour darkest to lightest and the markers above are listed in that order. For the roses, the second darkest tone I used for the first couple of roses was R37 but I ran our of ink and switched to R39. Both worked well! In the video, I explain how to colour two different styles of petals, open cup and deep cup.

The panel was mounted directly on an A2 sized, top folding card base in landscape orientation. Pink Fresh Studio’s Best Wishes hot foil plate was used to foil the sentiment on black card stock using Spellbinders’ Hot Foil system. The sentiment and black sheet foam were die cut with the accompanying die. The sentiment was stacked and adhered to the centre of the panel.

The card was finished off with Gold Fever confetti by Studio Katia to highlight the sentiment. The confetti was topped off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.
