Bright Poppies

Hi crafty friends! I’m so honored that this card was featured in this month’s Diecutting Essentials magazine. There’s a video up as well so you can see the whole process.

For this card I used the beautiful Cindy Lou’s Poppies stamp set to stamp 3 flowers on some scraps of colored cardstock. I used Versamark ink and embossed them with WOW Bright White Super Fine embossing powder. Once that was heatset, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. To add shading I used some dye inks and ink blending brushes to add a more intense color on one side of the flowers.

For my background I used the Tiny Flowers cover die, but before diecutting my panel, I added a strip of light teal cardstock diagonally in the bottom left corner of my white cardstock. I let the glue dry for a little bit before putting it through my die cutting machine. I poked out all the little pieces and then it’s time to put this card together.

I covered my white notecard with a yellow cardstock panel so the color can show through the holes of the Tiny Flowers cover die. I glued that die cut panel on top and arranged my flowers using foam tape. To add some sparkle I cut the Classic Foliage die set from silver glitter cardstock and arranged that around my flowers. As a sentiment I used the Love and Hugs die set and a sub-sentiment white embossed on black from the Giraffe-ic Friends stamp set. The coordinating die set includes dies for all the sentiments as well, so handy!
