Hey there. You’ve heard of a “birthday hug,” but how about a “birthday hog?” It’s Bobbi here with a birthday card full of florals and one magical pig with a big wish! I’m using the following products by Alex Syberia Designs for this 5″ X 7″ card:
Birthday Bouquet stamp set and coordinating dies
Hog Happy Day stamp set and coordinating dies
To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by stamping the floral design, the birthday sentiment, the cute little pig and his magical wand using black ink on white cardstock. I used Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock. I colored the floral bouquet using Copic Sketch Markers. Alex Syberia Designs offers a stencil set for those who do not like to color.
Here are the Copic colors I used to color the images:
- Florals: BV63, BV13, BV02, BG11, BG72, BG93, YG99, YG95, YG93, YR16, YR07, YR68, YR62
- Pig: YR62, E00, YR18, BG000, BG00
I also used my Gelly Roll white gel pen to add highlights to the flower petals. This offers more contrast in the coloring and really makes the flowers vibrant.
I used the coordinating dies to cut out the elements. I also die cut some greenery using one of the leafy dies from the Andalusia Wildflowers die set. I created light aqua, dark aqua and sage green leaves. I splattered a little green and white paint on the sage leaves for a textural look.
For the background, I cut and scored my card base then splattered watercolor paint over the front using a periwinkle, navy and black color. I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints to create the background. I attached the images to the card front. I used foam tabs under the floral image to make it stand out from the background. I tucked behind and glued the greenery around the the floral bouquet. Lastly, I attached pearl gem stickers around the florals and adhered the sentiment in the lower right corner to complete the card.
