A Garden-Inspired Floral Card

Happy summer! I have been really enjoying seeing the butterflies and bees in my garden. Once in awhile, I get to see a hummingbird, too! They love my cardinal flowers. This card was inspired by my love for gardening and the time I’m spending in my gardens this summer.

I’m using the following Alex Syberia Designs products:

Cheerful Meadow Die Set

Trendy Botanicals Dies Set

Charming Floral Background Stencil Set

Endless Hearts Dies

Andalusia Wildflowers Die Set

Essential Sentiments Press Plate and die Set

Now for the details…

To make this 5″ X 7″ garden-themed card, I used the Charming Floral Background Stencil Set to create the floral background. I used golds, yellows and green inks on white cardstock for the stenciled design. I also colored in the background using a Copic Marker in B00. I matted the stenciled design with white cardstock and attached it to a 5″ X 7″ white card base covered in a green gingham pattern paper on the front. I colored in some of the gingham squares using my B00 Copic Marker.  This is a great way to make a pattern paper connect to the other elements using color.

This card is very dimensional and really looks amazing in person when you can see all those dimensional layers. I added some white die cut hearts over the stenciled design using the Endless Hearts Dies and white cardstock. Next, I added green leaves. I die cut leaves using the various leafy options from the Trendy Botanicals Dies Set and Andalusia Wildflowers Die Set. I die cut some of them from green cardstock and some from white cardstock. I colored the white cardstock leaves using Copics YG67, YG17, YG03 and YG00. These colors allow more “lightness” with the green leaves.

I die cut the butterfly from aqua blue and white cardstock using the Cheerful Meadow Die Set.  I assembled the butterfly, layering the wings, body, etc. I added foam tabs under the butterfly and attached it to the middle of the hearts. I added a few gem stickers to the butterfly and some darker blue dots. I attached the leaves around the butterfly to create a pretty swag design. I added white daisies with yellow centers (Y19, YG00 and YG08 and my white Gelly Roll Pen) using the Andalusia Wildflowers Die Set. Lastly, I used the Essential Sentiments Press Plate and die Set to create the sentiment and added it to the lower left corner using a foam tab. A few gem stickers in iridescent blue/green were also added to complete the look.
