A Festive Bottle Tag for the New Year

Are you ready to ring in the new year?  It’s Bobbi here and we are invited to a friends’ party on New Years Eve. I plan to bring a bottle of champagne as a gift for the hosts. While I have not bought the bottle yet, I have my festive tag ready! Adding a handmade tag to a bottle of your favorite bubbly is a fun way to say, “thank you” to your gracious hosts.

To create this tag, I used the following Alex Syberia Designs products available to purchase at Simon Says Stamp:

Happy New Year die

Illuminated Night Sky Hot Foil Plate and coordinating die

Brilliant Burst Hot Foil Plate die

Signature Tags die set

Below are all the details of this tag. Keep in mind, this tag could be used on a card front, too!

To create this tag, I started by hot foiling the Brilliant Burst Hot Foil Plate design on black cardstock. I die cut the tag shape from the foiled cardstock using the Signature Tags die set. I positioned the tag die so that one foiled burst centers around the circular opening at the top of the tag die. It looks so perfect at the top! I also hot foiled and die cut the festive singular bursts using the Illuminated Night Sky Hot Foil Plate and coordinating die.

I die cut the “happy new year” sentiment using glitter blue cardstock for the letters and white cardstock for the shadow die. I cut three more shadow cuts and glued the layers together to make the sentiment thicker so it will be more sturdy and also stand out more on the tag. I attached three bursts to the tag using 1/16th thick foam tabs. Once they were in place, I used thicker foam tabs to attach the “Happy New Year” die cut. Since this tag does not have any “thickness” restrictions, I used tabs on tabs to make the tag very dimensional.

To finish the tag, I punched out brightly colored dots of color and glued them on the tag. I also die cut the “for you” letters using white cardstock and the Signature Tags die set. I glued them to the lower, right corner and added two circles of colors in the “o” letters. I attached a gold cording at the top. I kept it big enough to slip over the neck of a bottle.
