Hello Crafty friends,
This is Sylvie @kaliscards sharing some butterfly and floral inspiration, featuring the gorgeous Butterfly bliss die set
To create this card, I started with the background, from a panel of Neenah solar white crest cardstock 4.5 by 5.75 inches and blended Distress oxides through the Charming floral background stencils:
Stencil 1: Spun sugar
Stencil 2: Kitsch flamingo
Stencil 3: Old paper
Stencil 4: Mowed lawn
Stencil 5: Scattered straw
I then blended Distress ink Speckled egg around the edges and in any white space, dabbing my blending brush on the ink pad and dabbing off the excess on my mat to ink gently the background.
I then used the larger rectangle from the Good day quilted rectangle die set to cut the background and adhered the background onto the cardbase with liquid adhesive.
Next, I die cut the 2 left wings of the Butterfly bliss die set once from Sizzix Surfacez French navy cardstock and a second time from Pinkfresh Ocean breeze glitter cardstock.
I blended Distress ink Blueprint sketch on the edges of the French navy wings. I then added Washi tape at the back and adhered the glitter cut outs inside the openings. I then added double-sided tape at the back of the wings and adhered them on the glitter wings, creating an offset on the top for the top wing and at the bottom for the bottom wing.
I then taped the two wings together with a piece of cello tape at the back.
Next, I die cut the body and antennae from Simon Says Stamp Black glossy cardstock and the body a second time from Lawn Fawn liquorice cardstock. On the liquorice blody, I blended Distress ink Black soot along the right edge.
I taped the liquorice body onto the black glossy one with double-sided adhesive. I then scratched the antennae base to allow better adherence and glued it behind the butterfly head with liquid adhesive.
Finally, I adhered the body to the wings with double-sided adhesive.
Next, I die cut a few flowers from the Andalusia wildflowers die set from Spellbinders Chiffon cardstock and from Lawn Fawn sunflower carstock. For the leaves, I used Lawn Fawn Sage leaf cardstock. I also die cut one more leaf branch from the Whimsy blooms bouquet die set.
On the pink flowers, I blended Distress inks Kitsch flamingo and Picked raspberry. On the yellow flowers, I blended Distress inks Mustard seed and Dried marigold. For the leaves, I used Distress ink Pine needles.
I assembled the flowers with liquid adhesive and then arranged them on my desk to occupy the right bottom angle of the card. Once I was satisfied, I picked up the arrangement with a piece of low tack adhesive film. From the back, I glued some of the layers together and then added more liquid adhesive on the back of each die cut, before adhering the flowers onto the background panel.
I then added more liquid adhesive here and there to ensure all leaves were correctly adhered either between them or on the background panel.
For the sentiment, I stamped the Essential sentiments press plate on a Spellbinders A2 Porcelain cotton card panel with Spellbinders BetterPress black ink. I used the Essential sentiments coordinating die to cut out all sentiments at once. I picked the “Have a beautiful day” sentiment and adhered it over the flowers with foam tape.
Finally, I added thin foam tape under the butterfly body and 2 layers of thick foam tape on the edges of the wings to raise them, and adhered the butterfly on the top left corner of the card.
Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you next week.
Have a lovely crafty week!
