Hello everyone and welcome to the Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop!

Today we’re celebrating parents and spreading the word about Altenew’s card drive to collect cards for seniors living in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they are not forgotten.

If you arrived from Virginia Lu’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!

I hope you will check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and join this great cause by sending in cards if you have a little spare time or a spare card. Altenew will be collecting handmade cards between March 6th and April 20th, and each donor is eligible to win one of FIVE $30 Altenew gift certificates! If you use #AltenewCardDrive when you share your Celebrating Parents cards on social media, you are entered to win one of THREE additional $15 gift certificates! The winners will be announced on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9th, 2021.

We have chosen a few Altenew products that are great for your Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards (and other year-round projects):

Altenew will donate $1 with every order of the above stamp sets from 3/6/2021 until 5/31/2021 to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

Project

I have a card to inspire you to get your stamp sets out and create some cards of your own for this Card Drive!

For my card today I used beautiful images from the Beautiful Peony Stamp Set. I stamped the flowers and leaves with Remarkble Ink Pad Eclipse Black (this is perfect for general stamping and especially working with alcohol markers) and colored the images with copic markers.

For the flowers I used markers: Rose- RV02, RV04, RV06. Yellow-Y11, Y02, Y06, Y15, Y17, Orange- YR68

For the leaves I used markers: YG61, YG67

I cut the images out using coordinating dies

Next, came to the long decision – should I use a white or a dark card background? My passion for dark moody backgrounds prevailed, so I colored a card panel with Royal Blue marker- B28 and created a background for this card. Also, I decided to color the outlines of all the images with B28.

To achieve this floral pattern I foam mounted the peonies and leaves, trimmed off the excess, and adhered the panel to an A2 white side folding card base. To make a sentiment I used the Sentiment Stripes 2 Stamp Set and Obsidian Pigment Ink

And finally, I added several blue Crown Jewels Gems to finish this card.

I hope my card inspired you to create some cards for the Card Drive! Thank you for spending time with me!
