I cannot “sort of” be a watercolorist; I’m forever trying to be the best I can be.

William H. Condit

Hello, crafty people! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Just dropping by to share with you my watercolor card I made using Altenew Wallpaper Art Stamp Set. For me, the uncontrollable nature of watercolor makes it the most exciting and expressive medium of all, and at the same time it is the most complicated medium of all. I continue to improve my watercolor skills.

Card Details

I stamped the images onto a panel of watercolor cardstock using Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I like to use a cold pressed watercolor paper, which has a texture that makes a painting on it easy. I started watercoloring with light layers of color and slowly added more layers. I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors to color the images in.

I then die cut out the flowers and leaves using coordinating dies.Β  I added a piece of Altenew Gold String Washi Tape to my white card base. This tape is very modern and elegant and I decided to combine it with the flowers and leaves. Once the background was done I added the images, a sentiment, and sequins.

Just gorgeous! I’m much newer to my watercolor journey, but having fun along the way. My only complaint is that I wish there were more time to practice!

Thank you so much for your comment, Tracy! Yes, watercolors teach us to slow down and need more practice. It’s true. I can spend 3 hours to color just one flower.
Have you tried messy watercoloring? This is one of my favorite techniques. It helps to better “feel” colors.
