Altenew January 2019 Stamp | Die | Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

by alex

Hello everyone and Welcome to the Altenew January 2019 Release Blog Hop! I’m so excited to join this hop!

cYou should have arrived from Lisa Fonseca, but if not don’t worry there is a hop list at the bottom of my post. You may consider starting from the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog.

Release

There are many great products in this release – great for different styles and tastes.

You can find the ENTIRE NEW RELEASE HERE! I’d love to know what you’ve got your eyes on!

Projects

I’ve made 11 cards to share with you. I’ll try to keep it short.  Grab a cuppa & enjoy!

Wonderland Stamp & Die Bundle

Let’s start with Wonderland Stamp & Die Bundle. How gorgeous are these flowers?! I had many ideas of using it and I stopped with 2 techniques: watercoloring and masking.

My first card is a bright watercolor card. The background is a watercolor wash. I stamped the flowers and added some gold splatters. I white heat embossed the images onto watercolor paper and quickly watercolored them with my all time favorite ZIG “Art and Graphic Twin” markers. I used the coordinating dies with the Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine to die cut the images. I arranged them over a long card and added my favorite Midnight Blue Crystals.

The second card I made using soft colors. I stamped the flowers. I then die cut a number of flowers from masking paper using the coordinating dies. I then adhered the mask die cuts on white paper panel and inked up the panel with Altenew inks: Rubellite, Pinkalicious, Pink Diamond and Mango Smoothie. I added gold and water splatters. I then carefully removed the masks and colored the flowers with my  Zig Markers. To finish off the card I stamped a sentiment.

I cannot wait to share more cards using this set (as time permits). 🙂

Garden Picks 3D Die

Garden Picks 3D Die is a floral layering die. It has 5 different flowers with 3-5 layers in each along with several leaves.

To create flowers I first blended watercolors onto a white card base, to create my own colored cardstock and then die-cut layers of the flowers out of it. I heat embossed the top layers with my favorite gold embossing powder. I did the same with leaves.

I made the background by blending Altenew Inks (Emerald and Lagoon) onto green card stock and adding some splatters with water and gold watercolor.

To finish off the card I heat embossed a sentiment from this set with white embossing powder and mounted it onto the panel. I love how it turned out!

Beautiful Blossoms Stamp Set

Beautiful Blossoms is one of my favorite sets from the release and I created three cards using it.

For my first two cards I stamped flowers and inked up the panels with Altenew inks. I then colored the flowers with Copic markers and popped up a sentiment.

For the “green” card I popped up a sentiment, gold heat embossed on black cardstock. To finish off my cards I added several sequins.

The next card I started by stamping the images onto green cardstock using clear inks and gold heat embossed. I colored the flowers with my colored pencils, I did very simple coloring with minimal layering and blending. I then stamped a sentiment in black ink onto a white cardstock stripe. I used thin foam adhesive and foam mounted the sentiment stripe onto the background and added some sequins.

Danity Bouquet Stamp & Die Bundle + Simply Friend Die

To create the first card I blended Altenew Mango Smoothie ink onto a card panel. I stamped the flowers from the set using Altenew inks in following colors: Peach Perfect, Forest Glades, Evergreen, Ruby Red and Grapevine. And die-cut them with the coordinating dies. I stamped a sentiment. I then adhered all mentioned elements onto it and finished off the card with July Crystals.

The second card I made using a fun technique. Maybe someone knows the correct name of this? 🙂 To make a card you will need inks, a stamp and clear embossing powder/heat tool.

For my card I used Altenew inks in following colors: Rubellite, Pinkalicious, Razzleberry, Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake and Lagoon. I blended some light inks onto the panel. Then I stamped and clear heat embossed the flower. I ink blended all over again with the other ink color and repeated stamping and clear heat embossing the images. I then ink blended a third time, this time with more dark inks, and repeated stamping and clear heat embossing, overlapping images from previous stamped layers. Finally, I ink blended for the last time with the darkest colors. Between each stamping and ink blending routine, I applied my heat tool to ensure that all the ink was dry and used a Powder Tool Adhesive Deactivator as well so that the clear embossing powder would only stick to the next layer of stamped images.  After my panel was done I stamped a sentiment. To complete this card, I stamped the layers of the flower from the Dainty Bouquet Stamp Set and die cutting with the coordinating dies. I then adhered the image onto my card panel and adhered the card panel onto the gray card base. I hope you’ve been inspired to give this technique a try!

The next card I created using the Dainty Bouquet Stamp Set and Simply Friend Die. I stamped the images with Altenew Arctic ink and heat embossed some leaves with WOW White Pearl Powder. I then used the Simply Friend Die to create a negative die cut piece. I glued my negative die cut piece onto the card base and finished off the card with some July Crystals.

Magnolia Heart Stamp & Die Bundle

For my last two cards I used Magnolia Heart Stamp & Die Bundle. Now is the season of Valentine’s cardmaking, which usually means red or pink cards in their majority. But today I want to share my designs using non-traditional colors.

I started by die cutting six hearts out of white cardstock using the Magnolia Heart Die. Then I gold embossed corresponding images onto the die cuts and colored with Zig Markers in following colors: Shadow Mauve and Sugared Almond Pink. For the first card I stamped the image onto white cardstock in a chaotic order using Altenew Arctic ink.

I foam mounted three hearts on my stamped card panel. I then stamped a sentiment and popped up it in the middle of the second heart and adhered the card panel onto the gray card base.

For the second I stamped the sentiment onto the gray card base and foam mounted three other hearts. I finished off my card with one clear drop in the middle of the composition.
